Oct 23rd 2008 Deltec House

Deltec Exterior

This week our crew completed work on a Deltec House in the Candler, NC area. Deltec houses are round and essentially ship from the manufacturer as a kit. Deltec houses have a solid reputation for affordability, durability and energy efficiency.
Delter Interior

The round shape of the house creates some unique challenges for insulation. Imagine how difficult this would be to insulate with conventional insulation! BioBased spray foam easily fills difficult to reach areas, including the narrow “pie” slices and the round area at the intersection of the trusses. Foam was also sprayed inside the tube to insulate the cupola and prevent it from becoming a chimney for all of the heat to escape.

Oct 23rd 2008 Boone - Burchell Construction

Last week we completed the major work on a large spec house in Sunali Preserve. This development is located in a remote area outside of Boone, near the TN state line. Sunali Preserve presents numerous challenges because of the terrain and remote location. The project has a semi-conditioned attic, 2×6 exterior walls, a sealed crawl space and interior sound reduction. The sound reduction between floors is accomplished with spray foam. Interior sound walls around bathrooms and bedrooms were insulated with Bonded Logic Ultra Touch denim insulation. The denim insulation has excellent sound characteristics and is much more pleasant to work with than fiberglass batt insulation. The only remaining work is to insulate the crawl space once additional work is completed in that area.

This is our first project with Burchell Construction and we look forward to an ongoing relationship with this builder. Allen Burchell builds beautiful homes; we will begin our second project with him in November.

Oct 23rd 2008 Mt. Soma Community Center

Mt. Soma Thumbnail

Endless Supply Company recently completed an insulation project at Mt. Soma Community Center. This commercial project houses meeting rooms and a yoga hall for a new development in Northwestern Buncombe County, making use of both BioBased 501 Open Cell Insulation and Low-E Radiant Barrier Insulation.

Mt. Soma Radiant Barrier Thumbnail

The radiant barrier insulation was applied to the underside of the roof deck, between the trusses, leaving an air gap between the roof deck and the radiant barrier. BioBased 501 open cell foam was then sprayed over the top of the radiant barrier insulation, resulting in a high R value, semi-conditioned attic space, while maintaining air flow under the roof deck. In addition to increasing the R factor, the Low-E radiant barrier insulation blocks 97% of the radiant heat transfer.
